A taste of Italy returns to our screens this Autumn with Catherine’s Roman Holiday - RTE 1 Friday at 8.30 p.m

Catherine is our insider, she is the person who will get us access to the family homes and great restaurants of Rome and Italy. This time the emphasis will be on family food and Catherine will visit Italian families to get them to give her their secrets of handed down recipes. She wants to find inspiration from the city that invented the idea of modern food, as we know it – a city that has more Michelin starred restaurants than any other – for so long the centre of the gatronomical world.
There will be plenty of fun in the sun as Catherine, on her vespa, will criss-cross the eternal city, visiting friends, chefs, teachers, looking for inspiration in the markets, restaurants and homes of Romans.
The show which is once again sponsored by Roma is filmed between Italy and Ireland and is more of a culinary journey than cookery programme.
RTE's, Catherine's Italian Kitchen

Catherine’s Italian Kitchen was the first series and it is beautifully shot featuring spectacular Sicilian scenery and some fun scenes where the locals get together for great food and family fun. Indeed, the very essence of the show celebrates families and friends coming together for informal meals.
“This show is a sumptuous reflection of Sicilian cuisine” says the effusive Fulvio. “I want to open the doors of Sicily to Irish people and teach them how to recreate a taste of Italy for their own families, in their own homes.”
Viewers are treated to a ‘no fuss, no bother’ approach to preparing authentic Italian dishes. Catherine is a ‘hands on’ teaching chef herself and owns and runs the highly acclaimed, Ballyknocken House and Cookery School which is located in the pretty village of Glenealy, near Ashford in County Wicklow. Set in private tranquil gardens in the heart of the glorious Wicklow countryside Ballyknocken is a sanctuary for those seeking to learn the skills of preparing fresh local foods in a magnificent scenic location.
Ballyknocken House & Cookery School has won many awards and accolades over the years including the international Cordon D’Or Culinary Academy Award for Cookery School of The Year and most recently Catherine and her team were awarded the coveted title of, ‘Top Regional Member East’ at the Good Food Ireland annual awards.
